Mine lock automatically to the outside when the door is closed with the key fob on the inside, and only unlock the door you’re exiting from. Check your car’s manual under the “key fob and locks” chapter, there can be more options to protect you than you think. Like when I grab a door handle it’s only unlocking that door and not all four doors. I also don’t use the remote buttons to lock and unlock, I use the tap to lock feature on the door handle. The antenna for this is very weak by design.

Depending upon the location and situation, I may lock the doors immediately or wait til I put the car in gear for automatic locking. A crowded parking lot or after dark triggers me to lock promptly.

I wouldn’t be as concerned about unlocked as I would just hanging out without moving. The longer you sit the more of a sitting duck you become. Normal things also transpire like foot traffic so you increase your unexpected interaction with them being in your car past 30 seconds before moving. Put it in (reverse) drive already, the doors typically lock then. 💡

Iusually don’t . And if I’m in an area where I feel unsafe, I start the car and GO. If im driving a car where the doors lock automatically, so be it. If they don’t, I usually don’t bother to lock them. Don’t really think about it
