However, when it comes to Alex, he flat-out refuses to use their pronouns. He insists on calling Alex “she” and has even made a few offhand comments about how he doesn't believe in "all this new pronoun stuff."

As for the coworkers who are upset, they need to stfu about it because they also knew the consequences which is why they were using the proper pronouns to avoid having it happen to them.
