Glad you enjoyed your trip. Many visitors seem to experience something similar. Japanese don’t really do anything special to foreign visitors - they don’t take advantage of naïveté, generally don’t inject themselves in strangers’ doings in hostile ways, and are either helpful/respectful or quiet and stay away. They’re also generally patient and courteous with patient and courteous people. And for this, they’re often seen as outstanding.
