You’re not missing anything. It’s not for you. The same way you’re not going to turn into a major rap fan probably. The same way your parents probably didn’t love your favorites. I try to stay current (and I love Taylor) but you can’t hear new music with new ears.

Do you like Bob Dylan and do you get Bob Dylan? I love Bob Dylan's music and I love Taylor Swift's music. What they have in common is the authenticity of their delivery. You believe every word they say, and they say it in ways that most others don't. They are also similar in their limited melodic lexicon, but that hasn't hurt neither of them.

You’re not missing anything; while she has talent, she has also curated a very strong parasocial relationship with a specific demographic, (aided by her largely very detailed autobiographical albums), & their support has thrust her into superstardom. Adding in years of hard work, stereotypically white American beauty traits, along with the benefit of the doubt they afford, her father helping start her first record label, her career becoming the family business= the biggest star in the world. IMO
