I’m a professional programmer but most of the time I feel like a home programmer on a programming game show trying to prove I’ve got what it takes to program like a professional.

Would you say your game show is more like Jeopardy or more like Wheel of Fortune?

Company culture can make a big difference, I've worked places where the environment was very supportive, "We love talking about coding and learning new things" and places where it's more like "Oh, so you don't know XXX language feature/algorithm... how _interesting_". Strong preference for the former.

Dude. I've been a web dev for 20+ years, done all kinds of bananas stuff, and once in a while I still get HUMBLED by something I thought would be just another day at the office. I've learned that the correct answer to "Can we do X?" is always, "I think so, but give me a day to check some assumptions & put together a proper LOE." 🤣
