That's why citizens formed militias because help would be delayed should they need it. The 2nd amendment gives citizens/militias the right to bear arms to protect themselves. That's my understanding. No, I am not an absolutist about gun control. I have no problem with people who like to hunt owning a gun. I have family members who hunt People who feel a need to have a hand gun in their home for protection as well. 1/2
