In the simpler times, the pastor of a flock would construct the corral out of rocks/stones/bricks but there was no gate! The pastor would be the gate for the sheep, meaning the only way they could get in is by following the direction of the pastor. No one could get in or out with alarming the pastor! One of the greatest task for the pastor was the trimming of hooves, for they had to be properly restrained to prevent injuries or it could possibly pierce into their skin.
