Would you rather rent or own a house here in Canada? 🇨🇦 What are the advantages/disadvantages of owning or renting a house?

I prefer being a home owner. It's mine tondo with as I please. Home ownership does not have it's downfalls but it's an investment, if one stays long enough. I've been in this house for 20 yrs. I have over $400000 in equity. When I retire, this house becomes a rental so that I have retirement income. It's a win win for me

Owning. I am new to owning, but I’m tired of slumlords who think they can do whatever they want.

People don’t realize they are paying the price of their homes in bank interest. They pay essentially double the purchase price. And then become forever slaves to a job they hate.

Get pre approved from any bank so you will know how much you can afford depending on the amount you are approve thats where you know where to get the house/condo /townwhouse,remember housing market is high now and interest is high too.

If you cant afford to buy a house right now base on your credit score and pre approve mortgage then theres no choice but to rent.

Renting means money down to the drain! But many of us have no choice but to rent, because price are skyrocketing and down payments are huge.

Own! Rent goes up annually! You’re paying rent for nothing! Compared to paying mortgage for your own house… it’s a good investment because its value increases over time! When we first came here in Canada in 2014, our rent of 1 bedroom apartment was around $650 permonth. And they increase every year! We bought a house on 2016, with mortgage of $1050 per month. And until now we are still paying same mortgage, but our property value has already increased for more than $100k in 8 years!
