Dropping into different accents or cadences depending on your audience is called "code switching" and we all do it, whether it's baby-talking a dog (or a baby) or using your Serious Voice when you answer a phone call. I worked for a Senator who, any time he delivered a speech on the floor, would suddenly go into this very loud, somewhat odd cadence that we called "The Speechifyin' Voice."
