I don’t think you can make someone love you, I believe love spells can only enhance what is already there.

I think if there's a specific subject of the love spell, this is a nono for me, as they have not given consent to have their energy interacted with in this way. If it's just a general 'please help this person/myself find love in whatever form I need', this is fine, although the form you need often ends up being what you least expect, and perhaps not what you want 🤣

I’m going to politely hold up Ancient Greek tablets on love spells used by women as a means of regaining their power in a highly misogynistic society (same with love spells from many cultures) and suggest there are no universal rules, what is right to do fully depends on the world that you are in.

All spells to some degree influence others & the world around you. If you are casting spells that is inavoidable. I think each witch needs to decide if they are will to cast love spells or not. I don’t cast love spells for myself unless it’s generally about finding love & not aimed at a person.

It depends on many levels. 1. Historically as way of women reclaiming their power is strictly patriarchal society, yes. Hell yes. 2. Modern aplication vary by intent, people involved and type of love spell. a) is spell targeted or general (invitation for love into one's life?) b) is it targeted at someone who is aware (magnifying love between two people already in love), potentially interested (as way to make it easier to express their feelings) or someone that already said no? 1/

Personally I prefer self-love spells through the practice of tiny rituals designed to create a deeper love for self. When we love ourselves fully and with radical acceptance we might find that there are more options for finding the right people to love us as well.

The ethics of love spells is slightly complicated but the upshot is that they’re best done with someone consenting. If you try to force someone to love you against their will, then it will become a sick and twisted obsession that won’t make you happy. Ideally, if you don’t have a consenting partner yet, the target of your love spell should be yourself, in the sense that you use the magick to increase your glamour and attractive potential. That way you can attract without violating consent.

I think they should be used for the self most, but if for someone else, should be more specific to the qualities and type of person you want to attract rather than an individual. I say this bc a lot of times what we WANT isn’t always in our highest good, and can end up bound to you due to magick that was done selfishly, when the reality is that the relationship can be toxic or ill fated.

I believe in free will and I believe that people shouldn't be basically tricked into loving someone else
