Asking because I'm sending queries, the wait is making me nervous, and I used TV/Film comparisons rather than books because I couldn't think of any 😅 2/2

Queried for almost 4 years. 15 months from full to offer, but it wasn’t only one book. I nudged at reasonable intervals (with positive responses) then eventually nudged at 10 months with a new book that he immediately started reading. At 15 months I nudged again and gave him a logline for a third book I was finishing up. He replied the next day to ask for a call. He offered in part because of my backlist. We subbed the second book to editors first (it was most marketable). It sold as my debut.

I queried last fall starting in late September. I got my first offer in early November (a Monday) after querying the previous Friday. I ultimately received multiple offers over about a six week period. This was very fast! And I feel very grateful. A major factor was narrowing my list and querying the "right" agents for my genre and having strong comps. Having a "saleable" book goes without saying. Good luck!

Your question is my question! I’m a traditionally published author with a top five publishing house but so far every agent I ve queried to, domestic/ international ( I have dreams, what can I say?) have not been let’s say, won over. Or let’s just dispense with the bs and say they have wholeheartedly rejected the idea that I should have an agent and be represented for my future books. It’s a numbers game, they say but my math sucks.

I have five traditionally published books. I don’t have an agent. I won a writing contest, got connected with my publishers and have published with them ever since. Ofcourse, every book is a fresh pitch and I know I have to work very hard every single time for it to be considered.
