Filipinos from the motherland will recognize hyphenated Filipinos if they're mentioned in international media or win awards. Even if it's only someone's great-great-grandparent, they'll proudly claim you: "Pinoy 'yan!" But without any accolades, they hate on those from the diasporas. An exception is if you're wasian, then they'll dote on how beautiful/handsome you are and push you into showbiz and/or pageants.
