Every year, my work requires me to complete an hour-long course on Trade Compliance that, among other things, makes it clear I have responsibilities regarding where information goes even if the person to whom I'm speaking is being cagey about who they work for or where it's going to end up, and that professing ignorance may not save me from legal or employment repercussions.
