I’m pretty sure that before the water is added it’s “ground coffee” and what’s left over at the end is “coffee grounds” and saying coffee grounds when you’re referring to the ingredient is very common (at least in the US) but technically wrong, like saying “PIN number” or “ATM machine.”
Do I think this because I’m Australian and ground coffee beans are just called coffee grounds in the US the same way “entree” means main course here while it means appetizer everywhere else?
