I honestly feel like she being shady towards someone. Because I never seen a woman do that with their son even if the mother is single and I haven’t heard a woman tell their son not to cry because they are a boy ever but I know some men have said they mothers said that when they were kids but this is a knew generation and we love our kids and allow them to be kids where I come from.
