A teacher friend took a job at a school that started last week. She's putting in her resignation tomorrow. It's wild out there. Teacherthreads

I hope that she doesn't resign. Classroom management is more of an art than a science. But sometimes, you need partnerships and backup. There's always one work-from-home/underemployed parent who can help.

I worked at a school that was just terrible. The principal was just ridiculous. I tried to quit mid year. He talked me out of it. I tried all summer to find another job and couldn’t. Amazingly he didn’t fire me after I tried to quit. Had to go back a second year. By the end of that year I had another job. I fled that place. But some of my best stories come from those two years.

I agreed to sub in a sp ed classroom while in El Paso for 6 months from the start of the year until Christmas. The teacher was on maternity leave and was due back 2nd semester, so it seemed like perfect timing. I showed up on the first day to a completely empty room - no sub plans, no materials, nothing! Room was completely bare! It’s not up to the sub to plan for this. It was clear she was not returning and wanted her paid maternity leave and would then resign. I left that afternoon.
