People use cars when they can afford to and it is possible, in all but the most dense cities. India is increasing road transport by huge amounts as people can afford to because it is much more efficient for the majority of point-to-point trips (in terms of time and effort). Hopefully e-bikes and electric vehicles moderate the effects in the long term.
