It’s September, which means it’s Deaf Awareness Month! 🧏🏼‍♀️ Deaf is the correct term for Deaf. It is not Hearing Impaired, Mute, Deaf Mute, or Deaf Dumb. I much prefer “oh okay, that’s cool” over “oh, I’m sorry” when I let people know I can’t hear them and I’m Deaf. Don’t make it weird if the Deaf person can’t lip read. There are always the notes app or a pen & paper! It is ok to not know but as long you’re willing to try! We feel validated when people do this. 🤟🏼🩷 DeafThreads
