JD Vance suggesting grandma and grandpa provide childcare is hilarious when we know his parents aren’t around and his in laws are high achieving academics. Seems like he should disclose how many nannies his family has employed

My guess is two, given three young children and two high-powered jobs. Or a nanny and a house manager.

Also... um... wasn't his whole book about how he had at least one parent who was a nonfunctional addict? Like he should be the first to know that having your parents care for your kids is not an option for everyone?

My parents want to move almost clear across the country in a few months and my MIL can’t chase an active toddler.

“The grandparents should pitch in.” Also…. “The retirement age is too low.” Also… “People should have kids when they’re younger.” So….how exactly is this supposed to work?

I was thinking the same thing, Dolly. That sure did sound like the solution of a venture capitalist with a lot of underpaid nannies on staff.

Im no fan of JDV, but being high achieving academics and offering to care for grand children are not mutually exclusive traits.

His grandmother took him in and helped raise him. It’s known that children do better when their families watch them instead of strangers. But yeah. He is weird for saying this. You are stupid

My father died before I ever had a child. My mother was ill with COPD by the time my children were born. We all spent time together, but her health wouldn't allow her to actually be in charge of toddlers. My in laws were in Georgia.
