People in the know...do babies still get given those bobble hats when they are born in UK hospitals these days? Or is that no longer a thing? TIA! midwifethreads

We had to take our own hat last year.

I was asked to bring a hat and we bought one and never tied the knot so my newborn looked like a tiny gnome

They made a hat for my baby at Bath RUH, by folding over a leg bandage and then rolling up the raw edges! We did bring one with us, but with the rush into surgery my partner didn't think to grab it.

Generally, no. We have a stash of knitted hats in case one is needed. And sometimes at Xmas we have knitted Santa hats!
