When my wife and I first moved to the DC area, I essentially made all my friends through soccer and fitness activities. I started playing pickup, then in leagues. We sometimes went for drinks after games and then started hanging out. I also met lots of people at the gym at work.

Hobbies that involve other people. I have met my friends through swing dancing, board games, etc etc etc
