Nagoya. Usually skipped over by the Tokyo to Kyoto travelers, but has a huge castle to visit, a great zoo & aquarium, top tier restaurants that undercut Tokyo’s price, and an overall laid back vibe. For me it’s like difference between Boston/NYC or San Diego/LA when comparing to Tokyo. Also, it’s a great city for car spotters.
