Back in 2004 I had an opportunity for a big *unnamed* publication who wanted to publish my poetry book and I was going to get a $10,000 advance. But I had severe PPD and couldn't meet the deadlines and had to pay it back and lost the deal. Never had another opportunity for that. In this day and age I think it depends on the publisher. Lack of interest in poetry based on the lack of marketing doesn't change how much work a poet puts into the book. But...this is why I only self publish.
