All right, I decided to buy a new pattern for the DK yarn. I can always make the fingering weight sweater later in the year. This new pattern calls for a 4.25mm hook. Are the sweater gods against me?? I've only ever seen that size hook once, in a Boye, which I bought and own, but I HATE Boye hooks because they always spilt the yarn. crochet threads
