As a 46 year old who loves parkour, box jumps and other explosive training, I dread the thought of an Achilles tear. I don’t let the fear hold me back, but I try to be as proactive as I can. Some of my prevention efforts include:

1. Self check-in: Do I have any Achilles discomfort or other signs that today might not be ideal for training? 2. Proprioceptive warm-up: Light, reactive plyos to get the legs ready for action 3. Routine ankle mobility work: slant board, calf pumps in downward dog, etc.
