1/Three things an agent or publisher will know from the first 3-5 pages of your book continued: 🧵 Whether or not the author has paced the book correctly. Here’s the test: story structure exists so readers can instinctively understand the flow of a story. (Beginning/middle/end.) For a writer, structure isn’t that simple, but it’s not hard. If the hook of the opening line doesn’t lead into the first story beat, it wanders off the path. A book that wanders in the first chapter isn’t ready.
