I'm strongly contemplating quitting writing after I publish OBSC. Like, seriously. I spend more than 12 hours a day promoting my book to new readers, making graphics for it, and the results are nonexistent. Except for a few friends I've made here, no one is interested in reading FTB. It's heart wrenching, and it just seems like all my hard work is going into the gutter. Forget getting an audience, I'm unable to help my family financially. As much as I love writing, I can't do this anymore 😞💔

Readers use social media to follow an author they like, but it isn't a good way of getting readers. I've done the same as you in promoting on socials and gotten little return. The better advice I've heard and am following is building a mailing list and joining group promos and author swaps, so your book is being shown to people who are actually interested in the genre. You keep going because you love it and can’t imagine doing anything else 💕 Sometimes it helps to challenge your thoughts telling you “you can’t keep writing” and I bet if someone told you “so quit then” there would be a voice deep inside you that says NO I can’t quit. This kind of work will require hard work, hours, marketing, and time. But you can do it 🫶🏼

But don’t give up on WRITING. Don’t ever give up on writing. There are so many reasons to write that have nothing to do with publication.
