There is a general formula based on $ per sq inch to sell a painting at galleries. Do you think it's fair? Would you follow disregarding how attached you are to a particular work?

Let's say I would like for you to receive $100 per square inch. Maybe $1000. Smile...

Sorry, I think I am getting at whether it sounds right to use measurement as a unit to price...would there be another way around in existence to justify or standardize?!😉🤨

I think it really comes down to personal preference and what you feel comfortable charging in the end. I started with a sq in formula to get an idea of prices just because it makes things more simple and straight forward. Fixes a starting point when you have no clue where to start. I've added over the years as skill has improved, upgraded materials etc, but I've just added onto that base price I started with and still do base it on size because it's just easier and more streamlined

I use a size formula also. I’ve thought about other strategies, but some paintings take a long time, while others are almost ‘instant paintings’ with no redo or agony involved. Some I hate to sell and others, say a series of related works, I hate to break up. But if I wanna sell them, the price formula at least sounds ‘justifiable’ to customers
