Please tell me your favorite myth/fairytale/folklore. It can be the original, a retelling, a novel adaptation, anything. I’m very interested📚 Bookthreads

Anything fractured - set in another time period, villain gets the girl, genderbent. My top series are Wicked Villians and Dark Olympus both by Katee Robert

Does Anastasia Romanov and the legend and mystery counts? I have seen several adaptations and read several retellings books as well. Love it so much I wanna write my own and I did in fairylore and fantasy. No romance, but still has nostalgic feels if that make sense 😄 The fanart gift from an artist and author. If you want to know more about the book available on Amazon🧚🏼♀️

Beauty and the Beast for movie adaptations. Daughter of the Forest by Juliet Marillier, which is based on the folktale of the six brothers who are turned into swans by their stepmother. …can I be biased and say my own (not published yet) book? 😂 It’s a role reversal YA fantasy Rapunzel retelling, lol. It has some super mild callbacks to the original story, though they might not be super obvious to the casual reader.

For nostalgia Brer Rabbit stories; my grandma used to tell them to me all the time. The Twelve Brothers is my favorite Grimm fairytale. But my absolute favorite is the Buffalo Woman. I can't remember which Indigenous Tribe it originates from, I read it so long ago. But it's about a man marrying a bison woman and having a son with her, and then his journey to get them back.
