Were you not aware of your benefits package before going out on maternity leave? Not everyone gets full paid leave, those things you bargain for upon accepting a position. At least your job was there for you to come back to, people in some countries aren’t as fortunate.

I think what you mean is LACK of maternity leave. You should follow pages like Paid Leave for All and The Moms Project. We have to start backing the organizations that are going to bat for policies we need.

Is this your first job? Because maternity leave isnt child care benefit it is a child birth benefit.

One of my coworkers just got of ~3 months leave, fully paid.

Where do you work? There isn’t a single business in my area, including McDonald’s where this would be true without a massive amount of neglect on your part

Every other developed country understands the importance of family leave time. I had 3 months mat leave and felt beyond lucky that my company and STD covered it (save for 2 weeks) because I realize how not average that is in the US. And really, that’s not long enough. It’s really sad. Mat/pat leaves should be subsided by our taxes. All evidence demonstrates it builds stronger families and serves society well.

Almost like living in America isnt all its cracked up to be huh?
