I have both and prefer the Kobo. I have the base version of each so only off of that. Kobo let's you pick where on screen is forward + back and I like that flexibility. It's easier for library books (I'm in Canada but also have a US card) - they automatically go vs. Kindle where you have to do it all on Amazon (not even Libby) so Kindle is like an extra couple steps (to get it on and to return). Plus personally the texture of the Kobo feels nicer.
