I didn’t take my meds when I was reevaluated. So It wasn’t an issue. But if I had, I’m sure that I would have not been “re-diagnosed.” I was also lucky enough to not be hyper focused enough getting confirmation that I was my normal unmedicated self. So, my non-medical opinion, this makes sense.

That’s why dr Russel Barkley doesn’t think that neuropsych evals should be used for individual clinical diagnosis! Check him out on YouTube, also he’s a big time adhd researcher and clinician! I’d take his opinions over most peoples “facts” every day of the week and twice on the days ending in “y”

That is exactly how I performed and I was terrified that would be the result. She combined the objective results with her observations of me during testing and an extensive history - both surveys/forms and discussion to arrive at a diagnosis. That is why I always encourage adults to seek someone experienced in diagnosis and particularly adults who were assigned female at birth. It is a more difficult diagnosis to tease out after decades of masking and high performance at great personal expense.

My 5yo loved her WISC5 so much the psych told us that she was extraordinary and there were no "buts" like there were with every other child she'd ever tested. Took us another 7ish years to get a diagnosis of "actually even though she scored high on everything there really is a problem"

I was so scared of that while doing the assessment. I love doing tests, and always strive to do my best. I actually had to focus on dropping my engrained mask so my nervousness and stress would show. For once. And breathe and take my time, not focus on completing the tasks, but on hopefully getting help. When I read the assessment after, they had registered the reactions I had tried not to conceal, so I think it was important.

Yes, I have this issue where my brain gets excited cause we want to show you but please you, so we somehow turned hyper focus and gamify whatever test you give
