I wouldn't say it's necessary but you are absolutely more likely to be selected if you have some sort of media presence. It doesn't need to be huge but most authors want an ARC reader who can recommend their books to a somewhat sizeable audience. Basically all ARC teams I've joined wanted to know if I had a booksta, booktok, or a bookish blog/YouTube page, and how many followers on each platform. It never hurts to shoot your shot, though!🫶❣️
