So when I see those people tearing the show down, and tearing us down, and insisting we aren’t real fans because blah blah word vomit - what that says to me is thst their priority is to keep people out of their little club. It’s not to draw people in to Middle Earth, it’s to keep us out. And that does nothing for the Tolkien estate, nothing to spread the love of his work, nothing positive whatsoever.

I love Rings of Power so much

I’m not even sure many of them are purists in that it seems to me that a lot of those claiming canon being broken haven’t actually read anything beyond the hobbit and LOTR at best. I guess I qualify as Tolkien superfan because I’ve read everything including his expanded letters and the History of Middle Earth books, and I can say imo that RoP season 2 so far is the most purely Tolkienian adaptation in theme and spirit. I suggest “purists” go back and read the materials again/for the first time.

I read the books in the early 90s as a teenager. And I mean *all* the books. And I love both the LoTR movies and the RoP series.

I feel this so much. my first introduction to tolkien was Fellowship when it hit theaters. I'd never even heard of the trilogy at that point, and going into the theater I didn't even know it was a trilogy (I was surprised when credits rolled and the ring hadn't been destroyed yet lol). but that has led me to a now lifelong obsession with all things Tolkien, and honestly I'm actually really glad I wasn't super online back then. bc all these book purists and gatekeepers would have really 1/2

Well said I've been reading Tolkien from around 1975 and every adaptation from the BBC radio version through Bakshi and Jackson to the current Amazon series have all been delightful in their own way. This trend of hating on the fandoms you're part of is truly insane. How can you claim to love something and still pour so much vitriol on it? Rings of Power

I first picked up a copy of The Hobbit in about 1980 (I still have that copy) and loved it, I progressed to LOTR and then many years later came the films and Rings Of Power. I enjoy them all, regularly reread the books and rewatch the films.

I was a book purist and loved the movies the first time I saw them. I do have to admit I'm not a fan of the rings of power but it's not because of anything being different than books, just can't get into it no matter how hard I try. Super glad it's inspiring new viewers though and drawing in new fans, especially bringing new readers!

I was a huge tokien nerd, loved the OG films, because adaptation is necessary. The writing, plotting and dialogue is light years better than ROP. The films made me have feels, Rings does not.

I’ve said to my friends countless time’s lately, that if the Peter Jackson LoTRs movies came out now they’d be absolutely torched online. In fact after fellowship I’d say Jackson would be lucky to even get to finish making the trilogy. That’s the Hollywood we have now. Art dictated by committee.
