$30 vest, no. Look for police grade vests. You will likely spend between $400 and $1000. They don't guarantee you will survive. Officers have been shot and killed wearing vests. Vests offer no protection for a head shot or lower torso. I understand your concern and fear; I am driving voters to the polls in predominantly PoC areas of Atlanta and am, for the first time ever, worried about my safety. I won't be getting a vest. You have to decide if you need the comfort of a vest.

There is no such thing as bulletproof. There is bullet resistant. Depending on the quality of the vest is how resistant it is. The more expensive models can take a round from a more powerful weapon\from closer range without letting it thru. It's still gonna feel like getting hit with a baseball bat. I would stay away from the $30 ones as they can probably only stop handgun rounds shot from over 10 yards away.

$30 ones won’t stop crap. They are most likely fake & I sure wouldn’t trust them. While I’ve never worn one, I would assume they’d be hot and heavy. And might also be noticeable under clothing.
