I (Midwest girl that I am) learned this week about the existence of something in the PNW called a giant house spider, and I don’t think I will ever be okay again. And then I saw someone say something about how they were originally brought over from Europe, and my mind popped over to last September when my hubs and I were in the UK and I saw a shop owner liberating a TRULY monstrous spider from a shop, and I was not okay. And I realized where Shelob and Aragog and such came from. And, listen 1/

8 小時內	The Next - Earth After Alien Administration sharon_kilzer_author	Have you managed to not discover Brown Recluse spiders so far? A PNW specialty, and they get pretty big. And attitudinal. Also, it was in Oregon that I learned not to walk on the grass under the trees because of the big giant web structures under there. Very Shelob. Blecchh.
12 小時內	Debra Wampler (Bauslaugh) debwa	Ok so I grew up in the PNW and I think we incorrectly called them wolf spiders. I'd never heard the name "giant house spider" but looking it up now, yep. That's what we had. Which is funny because we found one in our house in Texas last week and I was like "meh, I've seen bigger." My husband thought I was making things up.
