every year in the week before Thanksgiving I go thru all of my spices- and pitch most everything unless I just purchased. Some advise purging every 6 months. Spices dont go bad exactly but they lose potency. If you still have 4 yr old cumin and don’t want to throw it out- fine. Just keep that to yoself
