1/4 Ah! So, someone else also hit me up on an Instagram DM about this yesterday. And they did so because, as I have said a million times on this app, downstream data can NEVER establish safety. Safety is a process. That is true with Tesla, Waymo and everyone else. But there is some elements here that are important to recognize. Chiefly, Waymo is not actually arguing that this data ALONE confirms a superior outcome for roadway incidents and harm, BUT that their safety lifecycle PRODUCED it.

幾秒內	Adam Cook motorcityadam	2/4 No guarantees that is true because I am not read into Waymo’s internal day-to-day processes and no robust regulatory infrastructure exists in this space… But that is what Waymo is asserting. And, indeed, IF a firm has spent the time and effort in exhaustively developing a robust safety lifecycle… one would EXPECT that the downstream data would show a superior outcome. So, you need that safety lifecycle. And if you do not have that, any “positive safety” data can be immediately trashed.
