Update to the damaged gas line: The roofing co. isn't liable b/c it's a workmanship issue (b/c the gas line was too close to the roof line) (which they admit no one could see ahead of time); our homeowners' ins. isn't liable because it's a workmanship issue, etc. etc. The fault lies with the builder. So we won't have a working gas fireplace in the living room, not a loss I care about. But I am annoyed at the money we had to spend to get the gas line capped & to get estimates for repair.
