Watching Buffy & Angel (only recently realised you’re supposed to watch them together) and eeeesh did people really use the R-word that much in regular conversation in the early 00’s? 😬

I think it depends on the location and if you grew up with family that was disabled. California seemed to be a hot bed of the R word.

Oh hell yeah. I remember I was almost out of high school when people STARTED talking about why we shouldn’t use that word (I graduated in 2002). Right along side using “gay” to mean bad or stupid. If you weren’t there it’s really hard to get just how different it was.
