Is it normal to want to switch careers halfway to retirement? I knew I should have been a National Park ranger…

If I had it to do over again, and knowing what I know and knowing myself, of course, I would have been a park ranger too. My back-up plan is to get to at least a partial retirement and become a NP docent!

You might have a better time looking into state or county ranger positions; federal can be harder to get into full time. It will probably be a pay cut.

I always wanted to work for the parks but I think I romanticized it in my head and in actuality they don’t just pay you to hike all day.

My Othermother became a National Park Ranger in her late 40s. By then she had three college degrees. Do the thing.
