I reject this premise I learned what a bpm was way later than one would expect

Or instead of being a gate keeping jerk, try teaching them instead! I don’t know scales on guitar but I still played guitar on a song with almost 4 million streams 🤷

Alrighty so insight of these replies 😂. Here’s 5 helpful simple music terms If you want to also chime in, feel free to add more BPM : Beats Per Minute (Associated with Tempo; how fast or slow the track is) Key(s) Chord (Can also be associated with Harmony) Melody Cadence

When you’re creating your own song from scratch (producing), where do you start? With an analog synthesizer, building a bass line with that? Or do you use your Roland TR8-S rythym performer (drum machine) to create the fat drum beat, then proceed to create the basses and melodies and harmonies with the synth? Or what plug-ins do you use when you are creating 100 percent original music from your head? Curious 😊👍🏻

They can learn, we can help teach. Now, if they're in their 30s or 40s and say something like "I don't need theory, I know what sounds good" and need to carry their entire setup to someone else's house to communicate an idea they have, because they can't write shit down and don't own a computer, maybe we can't help teach. But we can definitely prove them wrong by writing shit they can't keep up with.
