I’ve struggled to find situations where soothe 2 does anything other than suck the life out of everything, but man it goes hard on overheads and rooms

It's really easy to overdo it with Soothe 2. It can be deceptive at first though... I tend to use it mostly on vocal buses as a final de-esser. The more I use it, the less of it I use too, if that makes sense

a little bit goes a long way, i try to dial in threshold till it’s barely active and i can see where its suppressing w no boosts to the eq curve, then depending on the area im trying to fix something in, i’ll dial in the curves so its only active where i want it. but i only use soothe where i hear problematic resonances, and i will try to deal with it other ways first. but its usually first in the chain or on groups.

I love it on any cymbals and certain amp sims. Also throwing it on bass sidechained to the kick has been a game changer for the lowend. Definitely easy to overdo it though

I’ve avoided it because it seemed overhyped (I don’t know though), but I do love the idea of an overhead enhancer!
