Dear America, American Girls, etc. I grew up to become a professional historian/researcher and this is definitely a huge part of my professional origin story.

I loved reading any sort of diary book, it was fascinating to see how other people (even fictional ones) thought and wrote.

I was gutted when I discovered that they were works of fiction.

I have the entire collection: Dear America, the Royal Diaries, and the Dear Canada series (which is exactly the same as Dear America, but is about Canadian history). I was devastated when the series ended.
