Ok. Help me understand. Why is it that some crafters (and I’m talking large follower crafters) can create crochet patterns based on characters yet we are not allowed to sell finished product? I know Disney characters are not allowed but what about others like Wednesday doll, Ms Rachel or Dr Seuss? Everything I look up says it’s copyrighted so is this allowed? If platforms like Etsy don’t allow then why don’t they notify these accounts to take down. Thought or experiences?

5 小時內	Wrightfully Sew wrightfully_sew	Technically, they aren’t “allowed.” They just do it. But there have been enough examples of Disney taking people to court for that kind of thing. That being said, Disney does have a licensing option that you can purchase that allows you to create and sell their trademarked items.

If they do and sell the pattern, it’s a risk. Some have been dinged by Disney for example. Some try to hide it by calling it something else like alien baby instead of baby yoda. But it’s still not permitted.
