Please stop asking artists to work for free! I was literally just asked for $5k worth of florals for a certain event just to have my logo displayed. For the type of event this was and who was putting it on, y’all can afford to pay for that. Boggles my mind how people expect florists to spend days designing and setting up for FREE! I’ve done something like this once and got ZERO additional business from it. Never again. I don’t care who it’s for.

I get asked all the time by people I’ve never met before to do custom stationery for an entire event (like two weeks before the event…) or a styled shoot all in exchange for my logo displayed tiny somewhere and bad photos. And they end up being very particular too so I have to design completely new things or order new materials. So it costs me so much time and money for nothing. I only say yes now to people I know and like, and events that are my people and my vibe.

Totally worth it, right? While I’m at it, I’m gonna ask my mechanic to do my next oil change and tire rotation gratis, because I’ll share his info, and what a good job he does on all my social media pages; he’ll totally jump at the chance for all of the new jobs I’ll be sending his way!
