I’ve found scores of boat hooks over the years. They’re usually very rusty and I generally leave them behind, but tI took this one home. Not only is it in great condition, it’s also marked with the initials LDC, which stand for the London Dock Company LDC was established by a group of merchants, shippers and bankers in January 1796. They proposed the idea of secure enclosed docks the 1790s and drew up plans for the West India Docks on the Isle of Dogs, and London Docks at Wapping. 1/2
