Well it's very nice to get a rise in my pension, when I heard it would be over £400 I thought great, it will make up for the fuel allowance. Then I realised we will get a percentage rise on our pensions so this for me works out to £250. For those not on a full pension the more this happens the further we fall behind. My fault for opting to pay married woman's stamp in 1970 but not allowed make up the contributions now.

Due to that I made sure I always paid full stamp & interestingly by paying social security when I lived in California it covered me for the list years in Uk.

I remember at the time I didnt want to rely on a man , a lot can happen between now and then , suppose l was always independent , I continued to pay a full stamp even though lots of my colleagues opted for the half stamp. Although I am still married to the same man! , I am so glad I did, we both have independent pensions. It’s amazing how these small decisions can have a massive impact on later life.
