Today when going over social history/substance use, after I asked about nicotine, the patient replied “no, I don’t smoke or drink or do any street drugs” and I was like “great, how about marijuana, edibles?” And they were like “I just said no street drugs” and I was like, “… yes but we’re in California, this is legal, it’s not a street drug…” Like yeah I know what they meant but also, yes, I do find the use of “street drugs” unnecessarily stigmatizing and judgmental 😒 so I’m gonna challenge it
