Hey photographers, paying clients letting us use the photos for advertisement is like getting a tip. It's definitely nice to have, but shouldn't be expected. I said what I said.

I agree. There's so much vulnerability, emotion, etc. captured on a wedding day. I truly appreciate when a couple is good with me sharing. If not, I respect their boundaries and privacy. Sometimes they might approve details/decor and a photo here and there. And hey- I'm nervous posting my own photo. 😂

I think it’s also easier now than ever before to get into photography and build a pretty decent portfolio without paying clients in it via styled shoots/workshops (there’s SO MANY now), or putting on your own by investing in some outfits/florals and putting out a model call for ex. When I first started these things were not commonly done and the barrier to entry was higher. Which is why I did rely on sharing images. Now I feel the same as you though!
